Welcome back to the blog! I've been contemplating how useful (or rather how not-so-useful) my latest posts have been. Since it seems I've been running out of things to share and no one else in our family is really on board with this, I am either going to drop my posts back to once a month and have this go out more like a newsletter, or just drop it entirely. More on that...
New Year, New Challenges
Everyone, or most people, make resolutions they seek to carry out over the course of the coming year. I don't usually do that because my goals are always the same: feed my relationship with my Lord, glorify Him with my life in all ways, help those around me who have a need.
This year, our family is starting out with a challenge. John is part of a group study called Soul-con which encourages men to be who they were created to be in the Lord, mind-body-soul. There is a program for women that purports itself as the same sort of thing. However, the study the men participate in goes far deeper into the Word than the women's study does, which is sad.
So a few of the ladies at our church decided to craft our own Soul-con type of program, leaving it flexible enough to allow for different dietary restrictions and focusing more on encouraging each other to keep up with personal goals for fitness, Bible study, and help sorting through things we struggle with. The girls and I are participating and I'm already encouraged by what happened in our first meeting.
Starting Fresh
My poor old laptop has finally been given a rest. I'm happy to say my new one is pretty awesome and I finally have one that I think can handle the workload I need from it. It's a shame when you have to get a gaming computer because you require larger amounts of space and a faster processor, even though you aren't really a gamer. (I do enjoy a few games, but I wouldn't be considered a 'gamer' per se.)
I had been using two computers, one running a Linux OS, the other running Windows, but with the new computer, I can dual boot, which is super handy. Why would I want to do that? Well, let's just say Windows is taking more and more liberties with people's privacy and I take issue with that.
I finally got tired of the clutter on my desk, so even my desk is starting fresh today. Over the course of the last year, I collected a cute and compact writing utensile organizer and a battery powered pencil sharpener, also compact. I've been trying to be as much a minimalist as a person like me can be, but that's still a far cry from minimalism. XD At this point, I can see almost everything that sits on my desk. That makes me happy.
Back to the Blog Befuddlement
I really don't know what to do with this blog. I do think backing off to once a month would be more beneficial all the way around. I'm finding myself struggling to pull together enough helpful content to share with everyone and I really want to have some more time to focus on my writing.
Ro is doing more and more on her own now. That's a win, I believe. The fact that she understands the work is going to be done whether she enjoys it or not seems to have helped. I think I've mentioned before that she's discovered an affinity for geometry. That's a win for me...and for her even more. What we struggle with now is stopping during the day to check over what she's done. Prayers concerning that struggle would be appreciated so much!
Yes. I've decided. I'm cutting back to once per month. So my next post will be out on February 1st...barring accidents. I will confess to not adjusting to change very well. I'll do my best, though.
So with that, I'm ready to get going. And y'all are welcome for sharing my favorite meme... It makes me smile so much!
See y'all in February!
