Wow! Senior Year Has Been and Gone

For months, apparently, I forgot I posted here. To be fair, though, senior year was tough for our youngest in some ways which we hadn't really had to deal with while teaching the other two. Add to that my increasingly scattered mind, too many changes to keep track of, and going back to work at the sewing shop, and there was no way I was going to remember to post here. But we did manage to work through senior year successfully and our young woman is learning how to make her way in the adult realm.

We were supposed to go get her senior pictures in a little town just southwest of us, but we were never able to do it. I hate that life kept getting in the way.

She also requested a graduation tassel, and that hasn't happened yet, but I'm taking care of that today. She doesn't really ask for much.

I also still need to get her final report card, transcript and diploma printed out. Seriously, y'all, this year was a doozy if ever there was one!

We both so relieved to be done with school, though I will confess I'll miss the learning time. We were reading through a history book on the Reformation and I learned so much. She even laughed at a few points. The person who put the book together added some very interesting trivia which made the reading less dry and more entertaining. Much like the following memes, which I'll share to hopefully make you smile or laugh. My intention is to share some things I found funny. If you disagree, that's totally OK. Please be courteous in the comments if you post something.

I'm not sure what will happen to this blog, but I'm leaning toward sharing interesting things I learn. Who knows? I may find something which would be useful in a lesson. Posts will be sporadic, I'm fairly certain. We'll see.

My next post might include a few highlights from her senior year. I do like to go back through posts and remember what we did.

Thanks for keep up with us as we finished out our final year of homeschooling. I know these constant posts made it difficult for everyone. 😅

See y'all next time!

Welcoming April 2022 at Magniflorious Private Homeschool Academy

Welcome back! I'm so happy to be able to report our little seedlings, well some of them, have survived and are now planted in a small garden patch outside. Turks Turban Squash looks like it might survive and thrive, but we may have to replant cucumbers, nasturtium flowers, and sunflowers. Hopefully, today's predicted rain will encourage them to perk up. And we also hope to deter whatever animal tried to dig up my hard work yesterday. Y'all! I should've stretched before trying to work in the garden. XD More Curriculum Changes We started the year working on Chemistry with PACE workbooks. Those didn't work so well for Ro's learning perception. So we switched her to a workbook (The World of Chemistry) which allowed her to read sections and answer questions pertaining to shorter sections. There were fewer problems per lesson for her to solve. This made it less overwhelming for her.  To sum up: If the curriculum you chose for your student isn't working, don't

Summer is Upon Us! - June 7, 2022

Welcome back! Looks like I missed last month's post. I don't even know what happened. However, we've had to add kitten care to our usual busy schedule. So it could've been me just adjusting to the new norm.  Gardening Update I've got a few things to share with you today. First, our garden that was so beautifully green just a month ago is now not looking so great. It seems we had an entire colony of cowboy bugs ( click here to see what they look like , except the ones in our area are usually all black) move into the beautiful, green and yellow squash patch. I can't really blame them. It  was  the proverbial land of milk and honey, after all.  My sunflowers suffered a similar fate but from what, we aren't sure. We found some other kind of flying insect I didn't recognize. My dad, who's been gardening in this area for as long as I can remember, hasn't ever seen them before either. Their backs are black or a very dark brown. Their bellies, which we n

Well, Here We Go!

Magniflorious Private Home School Academy blog has a new home. We'll give Blogger a go for a while. Hopefully, this host doesn't start creating ad posts at random and sharing them as blog posts on my blog. :/ I'm going to look for the positives and do my best to keep this blog going as long as I can. It's still in progress so I hope you'll bear with me while I keep adding elements.    via GIPHY  So What's New? Besides this blog's new home and a new book in the works for me, my husband is getting ready to start a new job. Transitions are always difficult, so please keep us in your prayers.  So far, we haven't had even one meeting of our mother/daughter club this year. Between people fighting yuckies and unexpected errands, it's been difficult for us to get together but we do keep trying.  A Breath of Hope  And now for a breath of hope from the Bible Scriptures taken from The Scriptures 2009 - photo is linked to their website ***** As always, we do n
